Qili Ancient Town Scenic Area, Jiangxi Project Summary
This project is the general-contract cultural-tourism light-and-shadow installation for the core lake area of Ganzhou Qili Ancient Town. It integrates outdoor LED displays, professional performance lighting, laser projection, area-wide illumination and audio-effect systems to deliver a three-in-one immersive night-tour experience — water-screen cinema, outdoor stage performance and nocturnal light-and-shadow walk. The project overcame four industry-level challenges: harsh outdoor operating conditions, multi-system synchronization, high-altitude precision light aiming and a 40-day extreme-weather rainy-season timeline. Backed by the light-and-shadow integration expertise, simulation-planning capability and on-site coordination strengths of the HJOT team (Muyleva's predecessor), the project was delivered on time and to standard, becoming a regional benchmark for cultural-tourism night-experience upgrades in ancient towns.
Project Introduction
Qili Ancient Town is a landmark cultural-tourism destination in Ganzhou. To build a signature night-tour IP and lift both nocturnal visitor traffic and the overall guest experience, the core artificial-lake zone underwent a comprehensive light-and-shadow upgrade, fusing multiple performance layers to shape a premium nighttime visual identity for the scenic area. We provided the full turnkey audio-visual-lighting solution: bespoke concept and design, in-house R&D and procurement of equipment, on-site installation, system programming and commissioning, and complete acceptance and handover. The full range of light-and-shadow equipment was integrated end-to-end so that visual effects, heritage-architecture context and stage performance are precisely aligned — effectively unlocking the scenic area's nighttime cultural-tourism and commercial value.
Core Equipment Configuration
Equipment Overview
All equipment carries an IP66 outdoor protection rating, suited to intense sunlight, rainfall and temperature swings, ensuring long-term stable operations for the scenic area. Key configuration:
• Display system: two custom 36 m² outdoor LED walls on either side of a heritage pavilion, colour-matched to the town's architecture and synchronously playing HD performance footage.
• Performance lighting: 108 beam moving-head lights, 48 high-mount profile cutter lights, 20+ flood lights and 200+ linear light bars, covering the stage, lake surface and heritage-architecture illumination.
• Projection & laser: 3× 50,000 W engineering projectors and 10× 30 W outdoor laser units, delivering HD water-screen cinema and long-distance wide-area light projection.
• Atmospherics & civil works: 6× stage-mist units; 2 m of underground cable pre-laid site-wide, with lakeside equipment plinths cast in place and cabling fully concealed, ensuring stable power delivery to the entire system.
Core Technical Challenges & On-Site Solutions
1. Multi-System Synchronization — a Unified Audio-Visual-Performance Cadence
The project integrates seven independent audiovisual-performance systems, with dispersed device locations and heterogeneous control logic — a combination that easily produces timing drift between visuals, lighting, audio and stage action, breaking the immersive experience. We pre-simulated the full scene, pre-programmed the timing sequence and calibrated the site point-by-point, unifying control logic across every system and precisely matching linkage parameters to achieve seamless synchronization between light, sound and stage — delivering a fluid, coherent light show throughout.
2. Precision Aiming at 25 m Height — Adaptive Stage-Choreography Lighting
The 48 profile cutter lights are mounted on 25 m masts. Aerial fixture alignment at that height is extremely demanding, and each light must switch its shape in real time with the music tempo and performer blocking, placing heavy demands on both installation precision and dynamic-programming capability. The team combined 3D-modelled positioning with high-altitude precision layout to hold installation tolerances tightly, and delivered a custom dynamic light programme deeply choreographed to the stage — substantially elevating the immersive quality of the performance.
3. Extreme Rainy-Season Timeline — On-Time, On-Standard Delivery
The entire project was outdoor construction on a 40-day timeline, compounded by persistent rainy weather and multi-trade cross-work — leaving effective working time severely compressed and coordination pressure extremely high. We adopted a prefabricate-early, parallelize-by-zone, weather-adaptive construction model: concept refinement and equipment procurement were completed well ahead of site work; a 50-person professional crew was coordinated on shift, seizing every fair-weather window for outdoor installation and using rainy periods for commissioning and programming. Under strict safety and quality controls, delivery was completed with zero delay.
